* One more species, P. clavata, is not included in the table, since it is almost impossible to judge its real morphology due to the lack of modern descriptions. It is distinguished from all other species of the genus by the presence of a single clavate hair on each tibiotarsus–– Tibien mit einem Keulenhaar über dem Tarsus (Börner 1901, p. 37) On www.collembola.org it is listed twice––as a possible synonym of P. asigillata based on Gama (1964) and Massoud (1967) and also as a valid species, citing Dányi & Traser (2008).
** the original description of this species (Cassagnau & Peja 1979) indicates the presence of only 6 dorsal sensilla on the Ant. IV (see also Smolis et al. 2023, p. 338). However, according to Deharveng (1981, fig. 2J) the number and position of antennal sensilla in P. balcanica does not differ from that of P. asigillata.
