XRD analsyis of surface sediment samples collected from the reef-flat physiographic zone of Wistari Reef

Wistari Reef is a lagoonal platform reef, situated on the Tropic of Capricorn, within the Capricorn and Bunker region of the southern Great Barrier Reef. Two sediment surface samples were taken from the lagoon area for X-Ray Diffraction Analysis. This was used to compare the relative percentages of aragonite and calcite in the sample. The results indicate a higher proportion of aragonite (57-67%) than calcite.

威斯塔里礁（Wistari Reef）是一座泻湖型台礁，坐落于南回归线上，地处大堡礁南部的摩羯-班克区域内。科研人员从该礁的泻湖区域采集了两份表层沉积物样品，用于开展X射线衍射分析（X-Ray Diffraction Analysis），以对比样品中文石（aragonite）与方解石（calcite）的相对占比。分析结果显示，样品中文石的占比（57%~67%）高于方解石。
