Parkes observations for project P1059 semester 2020APRS_08

We propose to observe a sample of 22 pulsars at high Galactic latitudes with the Parkes Ultra-Wideband Low (UWL) receiver. This sample of pulsars does not have flux densities nor polarisation measured before. The goal is to characterise their wideband properties in polarisation, spectrum and interstellar scintillation. Such properties will help us develop imaging pulsar search techniques for future radio continuum surveys, such as with the Australian SKA Pathfinder (ASKAP). Wideband spectrum, polarisation and scintillation of pulsars will also be useful for studies of pulsar radiation mechanism and interstellar medium at high Galactic latitudes.

本研究拟利用帕克斯（Parkes）超宽频低（Ultra-Wideband Low, UWL）接收机，对22颗银纬较高的脉冲星样本开展观测。该样本中的脉冲星此前均未被测量过流量密度与偏振特性。本研究的目标为表征这些脉冲星在偏振、频谱以及星际闪烁方面的宽频特性。上述特性将助力我们研发面向未来射电连续谱巡天项目的成像脉冲星搜寻技术，例如澳大利亚平方千米阵列探路者（Australian SKA Pathfinder, ASKAP）相关巡天。脉冲星的宽频频谱、偏振特性与星际闪烁数据，同样可用于银纬较高区域的脉冲星辐射机制与星际介质相关研究。
