Digital Archive from Archaeological Works at Hornscroft Park, Bolsover, Derbyshire, January-February 2024

This collection comprises images, reports, site records, spreadsheets, and databases from a watching brief and a strip, map and sample investigation at Hornscroft Park, Bolsover, Derbyshire. This work was undertaken by Ecus Ltd in January and February 2024. Two pits were exposed that contained material dating from the 12th to 14th centuries. Associated finds included butchered animal bone, evidence for iron working, and a partial neonatal or foetal equid, which may suggest horse breeding took place in the area. An undated linear feature and a ditch may together represent the truncated remains of a paddock, supporting the presence of livestock during the medieval period.
