The Tennessee Voluntary Pre-K Program (TN-VPK) is a statewide full-day program that is targeted at children from low-income families who qualify for federal free or reduced price lunch support. A regression-discontinuity design capitalized on the age cutoff for eligibility for admission in a given school year to estimate program effects on early literacy, language, and mathematics skills at the beginning of the subsequent kindergarten year. The relevant data were collected from a statewide probability sample of 155 TN-VPK classrooms with 5,189 children participating across two pre-k cohorts.
