Glacial Cirques of Scandinavia
收藏资源简介:
This dataset contains cirque floor altitudes (CFAs) and geographic locations for 3,984 glacial cirques across Scandinavia. Cirques were mapped manually using high-resolution digital elevation models and satellite imagery as part of a study investigating the climatic controls on cirque formation and equilibrium-line altitudes (ELAs). The dataset includes cirque polygon shapefiles, as well as attribute data including latitude and longitude coordinates derived from cirque centroid positions (Centroid X and Centroid Y). The attribute Z-min represents the minimum elevation within each cirque and is used as the cirque floor altitude, which is commonly interpreted as a proxy for former glacier equilibrium-line altitudes. These data were used to examine spatial patterns in cirque floor altitudes and their relationship to regional palaeoclimate gradients across Scandinavia. This dataset supports the analyses presented in: Oien, R. P., Barr, I. D., et al. (2022). Controls on the altitude of Scandinavian cirques: What do they tell us about palaeoclimate?
