ADOT 2024 Junctions and Junction Legs
Junctions are locations of at-grade intersections, restricted crossovers on divided highways, and termini points for specific routes. The junction layer is used when identifying the number and type of intersection signals or stop signs as part of the Highway Performance Monitoring System (HPMS) federal report submittal (refer to the HPMS field manual, items 31-33). Junctions are also used in statewide safety scoring and have been adjusted for MIRE requirements. Junction legs are 150 foot linear segments, or legs, on either side of a junction. They are used to support traffic safety analysis. Reported Extent: Junctions exist on all paved public roads where an at-grade junction/intersection exists. Junction legs are generally created anywhere at-grade junctions exist. While they have been created on all ADOT-owned roads, they may not be as prevalent on locally-owned roads.
