This study provides a high-quality, chromosome-scale genome assembly for Heterostelium pallidum, a model social amoeba with a unique branched multicellular structure. The 33.18 Mb assembly, anchored to 12 chromosomes using Hi-C data, offers a crucial molecular resource for elucidating the genomic evolution of Dictyostelia and the genetic basis of complex morphogenesis.
