Whole genome sequencing of S. equi subspecies zooepidemicus clinical sample

Streptococcus equi subspecies zooepidemicus (S. zooepidemicus) is mostly known as an opportunistic pathogen found in horses and as a rare human zoonosis. Here the genome sequence from a Danish clinical case who had daily contact with horses is presented. Synovial fluid from the affected joint and blood cultures showed growth of S. equi subsp. zooepidemicus, sensitive to penicillin and gentamicin.
