Dataset - Wearable Alert Devices for Deaf People (SLR)

This dataset, provided in XLSX format, compiles the screening, quality appraisal, data extraction, and processed data from a literature review on wearable alert devices for deaf and hard-of-hearing people. The workbook documents 170 records assessed during initial screening, 80 studies reviewed at full-text level, 32 studies evaluated for methodological quality, and 28 studies finally included for detailed extraction and synthesis. The dataset is organized into six worksheets: Screening, Full Screening, Quality Evaluation, Quality Clasification, Data_Extraction_Table, and Data_Processed. Together, these sheets capture the full evidence selection workflow, from initial inclusion and exclusion decisions to the final structured characterization of wearable technologies. The included studies were published between 2020 and 2025 and cover several categories of devices, including smartwatches and wristbands, head-worn devices, arm and sleeve devices, smart gloves, smart eyewear, and other wearable systems. The main columns include: key, a unique identifier assigned to each study; title, the publication title; year, the year of publication; authors, the study authors; journal and publisher, the publication source; doi, the digital object identifier; decision or Decision, the inclusion or exclusion result at each review stage; exclusion_reasons, the reason why a study was excluded; Wearable Type, the category of the device; Wearable Description, a summary of the wearable system; Architecture, the main hardware, software, sensors, and communication components; Alert Type, the notification modality used by the device, such as haptic, visual, auditory, vibrotactile, or olfactory alerts; Environment, the context of use; Efficacy, the reported performance metrics; Usability, user experience or acceptability findings; Accessibility, cost or affordability-related information; and Limitations, the main constraints reported by the authors. This dataset can support secondary analyses on wearable assistive technologies for deaf people, including trends in device design, alert modalities, application environments, and reported effectiveness. It also provides a transparent record of the study selection and evaluation process, which may be useful for reproducibility and evidence synthesis.
