This open-access data set constitutes supplementary material for the paper IN SILICO MODEL FOR ASEPTIC LOOSENING PREDICTION IN CEMENTLESS HIP STEMS: A DESIGN OF EXPERIMENTS, by Sofia Baroni, Sara Oliviero, Marco Viceconti, and Cristina Curreli, accepted for publication by the Journal of Biomechanical Engineering. In the Tables (A.1 – A.8), the long-term contact configuration predicted at the bone-implant interface for each subject is reported in terms of contact area (percentage of contact elements) in Standard (S), Bonded (B), Gap (G) and Fibrous (F) state, after two years of follow-up. Contact configurations are reported for the total surface and for each Gruen Zone (GZ). Each Table shows the results for one of the three subjects under one of the three different initial fitting conditions (paragraph 3). Similar outcomes were observed for P03 with a proximal (20% BIC) and a valgus (10% BIC) initial fit condition, which yielded nearly identical results. Therefore, the table for the poor initial fit has been omitted. In the end (Fig. A.1), the relevant additional final contact configurations at the bone-implant interface are reported for each patient. Cases where the final configuration consisted entirely of fibrous tissue are excluded from the picture.
