World Ocean Circulation Experiment Global Data V3.0 Sea Surface Salinity

The World Ocean Circulation Experiment (WOCE) was a part of the World Climate Research Programme (WCRP) which used resources from nearly 30 countries to make unprecedented in-situ and satellite observations of the global ocean between 1990 and 1998 and to observe poorly-understood but important physical processes.
These salinity data were collected primarily using automated thermosalinographs underway on Voluntary Observing Ships (VOS). IRD Brest (Institut de Recherche pour le Developpement) conducted this VOS network. Some other data have been retrieved from the National Oceanographic Data Center (NODC) atlas (1998 onward). Data quality for this inventory is not uniform.
