The chloroplast genomes of two Chinese medicinal plants, Notopterygium forbesii H.Boissieu and Angelica sinensis (Oliv.) Diels, in Qinghai Tibet Plateau were sequenced and comparatively analyzed to evaluate their evolutionary relationships. The chloroplast genome length of N. forbesii and A. sinensis were 142,184 bp and 146,952 bp respectively. The GC contents of chloroplast genomes were 37.4% in N. forbesii and 37.60% in A. sinensis. The plastid genomes of N. forbesii and A. sinensis contain 123 and 127 genes, including 80 and 83 protein coding genes, 35 and 36 tRNA genes and 8 rRNA genes.
