Microbialite Genome sequencing and assembly

Microbialites are modern analogues of ancient microbial consortia dated as far back as the Archaean Eon that have contributed to shape the geochemical landscape of our planet through their diverse metabolic capacities that mediates mineral precipitations. These mineral-forming microbial assemblages accumulate biomass, major ions and trace elements from their surrounding aquatic environments. To gain new insights into this important biogeochemical process, we studied microbialites collected from divergent geological and geographical locations.
