The BioProject database serves as an organizational framework to provide access to metadata about research projects, ranging from genomic, transcriptomic, epigenomic and metagenomic sequencing efforts to genome-wide association studies and variation analyses. A BioProject record also contains a variety of indispensable information about submitter, grant and publication, with links to external resources relevant to the project.
