Institute for Research on Innovation & Science (IRIS) Summary Documentation for UMETRICS 2017Q4a Dataset

This data release (UMETRICS 2017Q4a dataset) is the second annual IRIS research datarelease. The first research data release (UMETRICS 2016Q3a dataset) was made available toapproved researchers in the IRIS Virtual Data Enclave in March 2017, and a mirror of the dataset with linkages to restricted Census Bureau data was released via the Federal StatisticalResearch Data Center (FSRDC) system1 in May 2017.<br>The documentation for this current data release focuses on both descriptions of IRIS data andour process and methodology for record linkage. The dataset includes de-identified IRIS data,public elements of external datasets (e.g., grants and publications), and crosswalk tables tomatch particular data elements (e.g., awards, awardees, research employees) across IRIS data and external datasets. As with the first release, this research data release is being integrated with U.S. Census Bureau data and will be available in the FSRDC system in May 2018.<br><br>This is the publicly available summary documentation for the UMETRICS 2017Q4a dataset.
