Extraction File Social Sustainability Aspects and Cluster

While numerous studies investigate the social impacts of digital technologies in production, the literature lacks a comprehensive and explicit identification of the aspects constituting social sustainability in this context. As social impacts are highly context-dependent and may vary across technologies, sectors, and cultural settings, a systematic identification of relevant aspects is a necessary prerequisite for enabling stakeholders to take informed actions that address the social dimensions of digitalised production in line with local needs and priorities during the sector’s transformation. Addressing this gap, this study identifies and compiles the aspects of social sustainability in the context of digitalised production by conducting a scoping review. A final corpus of 273 publications was analysed, resulting in 604 distinct aspects. These aspects were systematically synthesised into a hierarchical structure comprising six main aspects and 45 sub-aspects. The results highlight the multifaceted, and context-dependent nature of social sustainability in digitalised production. This study provides a structured conceptual foundation for future impact assessments, indicator development, and decision-making. While the framework should be regarded as a guiding structure rather than a definitive classification, it represents a critical first step toward a more coherent, and operational understanding of social sustainability in digitalised production contexts.
