资源简介:
Overview:
This dataset contains original indicators of "Access to Demand", measuring the market share of value-added captured by local producers across domestic, regional, and global markets. The data covers 66 countries and 16 manufacturing sectors (plus modern services) for the period 2000–2018. It was constructed to assess the net impact of globalization on productive structures and the capacity of nations to "catch up" in global value chains.
Methodology and Source:
The indicators were derived using the OECD Inter-Country Input-Output (ICIO) tables (2021 editions). Unlike traditional export-centric metrics, these indicators trace the origin of value-added embodied in final demand, allowing for a decomposition of market capture across different geographic scales, by sector.
Data Structure & Variable Definitions:
The database is organized in a long format, where each row represents a country-sector-year observation. The columns are defined as follows:
Year: The reference year (2000–2018).
Country_code: Three-letter ISO alpha-3 country code (e.g., ARG, BRA, CHN).
Sector_code: OECD ISIC Rev. 4 industrial classification (e.g., D26 for Computer, electronic and optical products).
A metadata is also available in the spreadsheet.
AtD (Access to Demand): The aggregate market share of a country’s value-added in the total/global demand for a specific sector.
AdD (Access to Domestic Demand): The share of local producers value-added captured within its own domestic market, by sector (indicative of domestic market retention).
AfD (Access to Foreign Demand): The share of a country’s value-added captured in all foreign markets combined, by sector (indicative of export competitiveness).
Regional Decompositions (AD_LA, AD_Asia, AD_Africa, AD_OCDE): These variables measure the country’s value-added market share within specific regional blocks (Latin America, Asia, Africa, and OECD, respectively).
AD_Developed / AD_Developing: Market share capture segmented by the development status of the destination market.
Potential Applications:
This database is intended for researchers and practitioners in development economics, international trade, and industrial policy. It is particularly suitable for analyzing structural change, demand leakages, South-South trade, and the fragmentation of production within Global Value Chains (GVCs).
