Unraveling the Concealed Microbiome of a Plastic-Rich Landfill and a Wetland

This study was thus undertaken to compare the microbiome of the soil receiving landfill leachate and the microbiome of an adjacent wetland, a Ramsar site, by metagenomic approach to understand the effect of disturbance on the diversity of the microbes and observe whether the assemblage of species observed in the perturbed landfill soil are random, or there is a general pattern in the composition of the microbial communities in landfills around the globe.
