By using a mixed-ligand approach, a new Cu(II)-based coordination polymer (CP) with the chemical formula of {[Cu<sub>2</sub>(ptd)<sub>2</sub>(IPA)<sub>2</sub>]·2H<sub>2</sub>O}<i><sub>n</sub></i> (<b>1</b>, ptd = 4′-(4-pyridine)4,2′:2′,4′′-terpyridine, H<sub>2</sub>IPA = isophthalic acid) has been synthesized under hydrothermal conditions and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, IR spectroscopic, elemental and thermogravimetric analyses. Furthermore, the anticancer activity of the compound on the CHO cancer cell was determined, the CCK-8 assay was performed to explore the inhibitory activity of the compound on the cell viability. the IC<sub>50</sub> values were calculated at the same time. The suppression of the compound on the cancer cell migration and invasion ability was also determined with trans-well assay.
