Comparison of Perinatal and Neonatal Outcomes of Very Advanced Maternal Aged Pregnants and Early Adolescent Pregnant Women

<b>Aims: </b>Very<b> </b>advanced maternal age or early adolescent pregnancies are risky
pregnancies and are among the current era problems. Early ages and advanced ages
have unique perinatal and neonatal consequences. In this study, it was aimed to
compare the perinatal and neonatal outcomes of very advanced maternal age and
early adolescent pregnancies.

<b>Materials and Methods:</b> This study includes 297 cases who
gave birth in Siirt Training and Research Hospital (Siirt, Turkey) between
2017-2021 years. The cases were divided into 3 groups as group 1=pregnancy of
16 years and below (80 cases); group 2=pregnancy of 45 years and above (67 cases);
and group 3=pregnancy between 25-35 years of age. Perinatal and neonatal
outcomes of the cases were compared retrospectively.

<b>Results: </b>Of the total 297 cases, 26.9% were
interpreted as “group 1”, 22.6% as “group 2”, and 50.5% as “group 3”. The group
1 pregnancy rate was 2.29% and the group 2 pregnancy rate was 1.91%. Gravity,
parity, abortion history, fasting glucose level, GDM (gestational diabetes
mellitus), preeclampsia, polyhydramnios, “presentation anomaly frequency” and
cesarean delivery (CS) were found to be significantly higher in Group 2
compared to other groups (p&lt;0.05). Vaginal delivery rate was found to be
significantly higher in group 1 (p&lt;0.05). Similar results were found in
terms of neonatal mortality and other negative outcomes (p&gt;0.05).

<b>Conclusion: </b>Very advanced age pregnancies are
more risky in terms of adverse pregnancy outcomes than adolescent pregnancies.
To reduce the negative perinatal outcomes, it is important to conduct
management of early adolescent and especially very advanced age pregnancies close
to perinatology department locations.
