Main Endeavour Field Cabled Observatory Vent Imaging Sonar Deployed 2010-09-30

The COVIS Multibeam Sonar 001 was deployed on 2010-09-30 at Main Endeavour Field. Main Endeavour Field is a vent field located at Endeavour Ridge, where hydrothermal vent systems are observed. This device is a Cabled Observatory Vent Imaging Sonar. The Cabled Observatory Vent Imaging Sonar (COVIS) is a sonar system used to quantitatively image hydrothermal vents at the mid-ocean ridge. It was deployed on a fixed platform. Data from this deployment were archived and made available through Ocean Networks Canada's Oceans 3.0 digital infrastructure, with quality assurance and derived data products following established practices.
