XRD patterns of biogenic hydroxyapatite extracted from fish scales

Project Overview: Biogenic Hydroxyapatite Extraction This repository contains the X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns of biogenic hydroxyapatite (HA) extracted from the scales of different fish species (Arapaima gigas, Megalops atlanticus, and Mugil liza) utilizing an ultrasound-assisted alkaline hydrolysis process. The XRD analysis employs Reference Intensity Ratio (RIR) quantification, confirming a 100% hydroxyapatite phase purity with no secondary crystalline phases or contaminants detected. Minor adjustments to the hydrolysis reaction time were required for each species. These variations depend directly on the specific mineralization degree of the fish scales and the native structure of their collagen matrices. Intellectual Property & Patent Status This extraction technology is protected by law. The intellectual property is registered and patented in Brazil by the National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI) under patent number BR102021001251, officially granted as a B1 status patent on December 3, 2024.
