Genome sequencing and assembly of Amarnath isolates. Streptomyces microflavus

Soil samples were collected from Amarnath, Jammu and Kashmir, India. Amarnath is located at 3,888 meters from sea level. It is surrounded by snow-covered mountains and glaciers. The challenging and harsh climate offers the opportunity to isolate bacteria that can withstand such environmental conditions. Understanding bacteria's genetic makeup, physiological adaptations, and metabolic potential, helps to understand their survival strategies in cold and high-altitude ecosystems. The Amarnath region presents unique climatic conditions with low temperatures, hypoxia, and nutrient deficiency, making it a valuable site to study extremophiles. Bacteria adapted to harsh conditions may possess novel enzymes, bioactive compounds, or cold-adapted genes with industrial and pharmaceutical significance.
