Hydroxychavicol, one of the major compounds in Piper betle, holds wider therapeutic applications.To understand the molecular network behind the synthesis of hydroxychavicol, two extreme accessions i.e. H22 (hyperaccumulator) and L18 (hypoaccumulator) of hydroxychavicol were chosen for the transcriptome profiling. The supporting enzymes involved in the different pathways were also studied to understand their contribution in the synthesis of hydroxychavicol.
