Burden of Disease (BoD) - LGAs and regions 2001 - Disability Adjusted Life Years (DALY)

The Burden of Disease study uses methods developed originally for the GlobalBurden of Disease study refined and adapted to the Victorian context. Itprovides a comprehensive assessment of the amount of ill health in Victoria,Australia, measured in disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) arising frommost diseases and injuries.The DALY is a measure of the disease burden in a population combining the lossof years of life due to premature mortality and the loss of healthy years oflife due to disease or injury. One DALY can be thought of as one lost year ofhealthy life. The DALY is a so-called health gap measure. This means that theburden of disease is measured as the gap between the current health status ofthe population and an ideal where everyone lives into old age; free of diseaseor injury. The term disability is used quite broadly; in this sense; toinclude all departures from complete health due to disease or injury.

本疾病负担研究（Burden of Disease study）采用了最初为全球疾病负担研究（Global Burden of Disease study）开发的方法，并针对澳大利亚维多利亚州的实际情况进行了优化与适配。本研究以伤残调整寿命年（disability-adjusted life years, DALYs）为衡量指标，对澳大利亚维多利亚州绝大多数疾病与损伤引发的健康损害程度开展全面评估。伤残调整寿命年是用于量化人群疾病负担的指标，综合了过早死亡导致的寿命损失，以及疾病或损伤引发的健康寿命损失。每1个伤残调整寿命年可被理解为1年健康寿命的流失。伤残调整寿命年属于一类所谓的健康差距指标，即疾病负担被定义为人群当前健康状态与理想健康状态之间的差距——理想状态下，所有人均能终老无虞，且不受疾病或损伤的困扰。本研究中对"伤残"一词的使用范围较为宽泛，涵盖了所有因疾病或损伤导致的健康状态偏离完全健康的情形。
