资源简介:
RESEARCH BACKGROUND Edgoose's ongoing research investigates the body as one of a number of possible sites that communicate meaning for jewellery objects such as the ring. Working with the ring as a traditional craft object, he explores how perceptions and interpretations are expanded, dependant on its physical location within defined spaces, and in relationship with other objects. Recognising the multivalent meanings of rings, this work addresses the question, What meaning is attributed to the ring when it is not worn on a hand? RESEARCH CONTRIBUTION 'Ring and Box no.2' is displayed in a range of contexts to explore the meaning of an object, how it is made, distorted, expanded or interpreted through a dialogue with the spatial and contextual poetics of site. The work explores relationships between objects; objects and space by placing the ring in a particular environment. It challenges and broadens the viewer's perception of the object, creating new levels of signification. RESEARCH SIGNIFICANCE The creative works were exhibited in the Treasure-Room Australia at the Galerie Handwerk in Munich as part of an annual international jewellery event, 'Schmuck. The work was also included in a published collection of essays by Professor Elizabeth Grierson, Dr Kevin Murray and Roseanne Bartley that accompanied the exhibition.
