Distribution of Ornithodoros phacochoerus in the Coutada 9 Game Reserve in Central Mozambique

Ornithodoros soft ticks of the O. moubata species complex, are biological vectors of African swine fever (ASF) virus, the causative agent of ASF in domestic pigs. Warthog burrows and sandy crevices at the base of granite boulders were sampled for the presence of Ornithodoros soft ticks in Coutada 9-Macossa Game Reserve, Central Mozambique. 141 sites were sampled and environmental data (habitat type, soil characteristics, NDVI...) were recorded. We explored the influence of environmental factors on tick presence and density.
