In 2023, the researcher obtained research permit number 000.9/1826 and received authorization from the Medan City Government to analyze and publish this data.<b>Interpretation:</b>Table 1.7 presents data on the distribution of business registration across 21 districts in Medan City. It categorises individuals based on <b>whether they own an NIB ("Yes") or do not own an NIB ("No")</b>, with a total count for each district.<b>Key Observations:</b><br><b>Overall NIB Ownership in Medan City</b>:<b>371 individuals</b> (0.41%) have a <b>Business Identification Number (NIB)</b>.<b>89,820 individuals</b> (99.59%) do <b>not</b> have an NIB.<b>Total population covered: 90,191 individuals</b>.<b>Districts with the Highest NIB Ownership</b>:<b>Medan Belawan</b> leads with <b>139 individuals (37.5% of all NIB holders)</b>.<b>Medan Tuntungan</b> follows with <b>24 individuals (6.5%)</b>.<b>Medan Kota</b> records <b>27 individuals (7.3%)</b>.<b>Districts with the Lowest NIB Ownership</b>:<b>Medan Tembung, Medan Deli, and Medan Labuhan each have only 2 registered businesses (0.5%)</b>.<b>Medan Maimun</b> records just <b>3 businesses (0.8%)</b>.Several districts show minimal business formalisation.<b>General Trends &amp; Insights:</b>The <b>overwhelming majority (99.59%)</b> of individuals do <b>not</b> own an NIB, suggesting that most businesses <b>operate informally or under local permits instead of full national registration</b>.Certain districts, like <b>Medan Belawan, Medan Kota, and Medan Tuntungan</b>, demonstrate greater NIB ownership, possibly due to economic activity or local policies supporting formalisation.Other areas, such as <b>Medan Labuhan and Medan Deli, show almost no formal business registration</b>, indicating potential regulatory or accessibility barriers.<b>Potential Research Implications:</b><b>Entrepreneurship formalisation:</b> The <b>extremely low percentage (0.41%)</b> of registered businesses highlights potential challenges in compliance or accessibility.<b>Economic Activity by District:</b> Understanding why certain districts have more registered businesses may reveal differences in commercial density and government enforcement.<b>Policy Considerations:</b> The data can inform <b>initiatives to encourage business formalization</b> and improve access to NIB registration for entrepreneurs.<br>
