Swine Y-chromosome assembling project

The evolution and biological function of mammalian Y-chromosome has always been a research hotspot. However, it is hard to assemble a complete Y-chromosome because the long arm of the Y chromosome contains many ampliconic and palindromic sequences. Here, we employed long read sequencing technologies to assemble two high-quality complete T2T Y-chromosomes in pigs. This lay a foundation for the study of the evolution and biological function of mammalian sex chromosomes.
