Environmental DNA-based profiling of planktonic prokaryotic communities along the Yangtze River

This project aims to investigate the spatial and temporal dynamics of planktonic prokaryotic communities along the Yangtze River using environmental DNA sequencing. Water samples were collected from 30 sites along the river during three sampling campaigns conducted in August 2024, April 2025, and December 2025. High-throughput sequencing data targeting prokaryotic genetic markers were generated to characterize community composition and diversity. By integrating biological data with environmental gradients, this project provides insights into the ecological patterns, seasonal variability, and potential driving factors shaping planktonic icrobial communities in one of the world's largest river systems.
