Thesurveygatheredinformationonavarietyoftypesofmethodsandmodels,includingthoseusedtosetpriorities,toscreennanomaterials,todevelopdetailedassessmentsofexposure,andothertypesofmethodsormodels.Methodsormodelssuitableforprioritizationoftencomparematerialsinarelativesense,butarenotsufficienttoquantitativelyassessexposuretospecificnanomaterials.Incontrast,screeninglevelmethodsormodelsareoftenusedforsemi-quantitativeassessmentofexposuretospecificnanomaterials,butarebiasedtowardsdevelopingconservative(protective)estimateswhichcanbeusedtoidentifythoseexposureswhicharehigherpriorityforfurtheranalysis.Finally,moredetailed(highertier)assessmentsareoftendevelopedwheremoreaccurateassessmentsareneeded,forexample,toinitiatespecificriskmanagementactionformajorcommoditychemicals.Analyticalmethodswerealsocollectedasaresultofthesurvey,andthesewouldfallinthe“other”category.
