Burkholderia cenocepacia K56-2, a well-known opportunistic pathogen for people with cystic fibrosis (CF), is heavily used as a model and belongs to the Burkholderia cepacia complex (Bcc). We describe here the first closed genome for this strain, which will help advance research in B. cenocepacia biology and omics studies.
