Jewel wasp (Nasonia vitripennis) transcriptomic response to long and short photoperiod

Endocrinological mechanisms of maternally-regulated insect diapause are only partly understood. The jewel wasp, Nasonia vitripennis, is a model insect exhibiting maternally-regulated diapause in response to short daylength. To determine which hormones and pathways may be involved in this diapause, we compared the transcriptomes of adult female jewel wasps reared under long days (16L:8D) or diapause-inducing short days (10L:14D). We focused on genes related to the Juvenile Hormone biosynthetic pathway.
