Differential correction methods used for astrodynamics problems rely on good initial guesses for successful convergence, and failures in these algorithms must often be addressed by hand. We introduce a new approach for differential correction that focuses primarily on robustness using the concepts of screens and windows. This method is enabled by propagation using the full nonlinear equations of motion, and it provides an approach for demonstrating the existence of a solution for a given problem. The first level-1 correction step is described in detail here, and the overall differential correction approach is outlined. Examples using the level-1 step for various scenarios in planar and spatial problems are then given.
