Repeated evolution and genetic basis of elongation in spiny-rayed fishes: an insight from the world's longest bony fish

To explore the evolutionary mechanisms of body elongation in ray-finned fishes, we assembled high-quality genomes for 2 elongated species, including the world's longest bony fish oarfish (Regalecus russelii), along with its relative, the ribbonfish (Trachipterus ishikawae).
