Morgan Gallup Poll vote and leadership approval, Australia: Aggregate data, 1958 to 1987

This study consists of an aggregate data file derived from published results of monthly Morgan Gallup Polls from 1958 to 1987, with particular emphasis on vote intention and leadership ratings. Each record in the file contains derived information for one monthly poll. This information includes: month and year of poll; number of monthly polls over which mean voting figures were calculated; percentage of respondents volunteering voting intention from the ALP, the Liberal/National Party and the Australian Democrats; the number of monthly polls over which mean leadership approval figures were calculated; percentage of respondents approving of both the incumbent Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition; the identities of both incumbents; whether an election for either the House of Representatives or the Senate was held in the particular month; and which party held government at the time.
