The centerlines for river mainstream and river-lake confluence were first delineated. Perpendicular transects were generated at 400 m and 200 m intervals along these centerlines. For each transect, SWOT WSE pixel data within a 200 m wide (along-centerline) by 500 m long (across-centerline) rectangular box were extracted. The mean WSE for each transect was robustly estimated using a Normalized Median Absolute Deviation (NMAD) filter to remove outliers, effectively smoothing against spurious data points.
