Many of the loess soils throughout the world are associated with dust emission to the atmosphere. In recent decades, soils of the Negev region in southern Israel have been subjected to increased anthropogenic activities, which cause changes in their physicochemical properties, and thus the potential of dust emission. In this study, the MiSeq high throughput sequencing method was used to explore the structure of the prokaryotic communities in semi-arid loess soils that are associated with dust emission and are subjected to different agricultural land uses.
