Pollen analysis was conducted on six samples from a prehistoric Chumash site (CA-SBA-
1823) in the western Santa Ynez Mountains. A cache of lithic tools that included groundstone
was ·recovered. Pollen analysis of washes of two manos was compared with samples from the
sediment within the rock cache, sediment outside the rock cache, and two modern control
samples.
