Elucidation of TLO functional redundancy in Candida albicans

This study sought to determine the degree of functional redundancy and/or diversity that is partitioned among paralogs upon large gene family expansions. TLO mutants were subjected to a battery of phenotypic assays as well as RNA-sequencing in rich medium conditions to assess the phenotype-transcriptional interplay that paralogs are involved in. This work plays a key role in understanding how an important fungal pathobiont has adapted to environmental changes over evolutionary time.
