Impact of micronutrient supplementation on eukaryotic and bacterial microbiota in healthy and undernourished children from Pakistan

This retrospective study was designed to explore associations between bacterial and eukaryotic gut microbiota identified in the stool of 12 and 24 month old children, and micronutrient supplementation, geographic locality, nutritional status and age. Samples were originally collected as part of the cluster randomized controlled trial on the impact of micronutrients on growth (ClinicalTrials.gov identifier NCT00705445), and subjected to 16S and 18S sequencing surveys.
