Multidisciplinary study of lime and gypsum plasters from the Paphian region – comprehensive dataset

The present dataset is the result of a research project concerning plaster production in southwestern Cyprus (Paphos region) over an extensive time period, spanning from the Late Bronze to the Roman age. This dataset includes results obtained from a multi-analytical approach to material analysis, including methods such as petrography, scanning electron microscopy, thermogravimetry, x-ray diffractometry, Raman and infra-red spectroscopy, and proteomics. The aim of this publication is to create a reliable database for future researchers interested in the same topic, in order to create similar classifications and uniform terminology. An additional folder containing the photos of the samples and their context has been added to the repository as supplementary material. The supplementary material folder is divided into sub-folders for each archaeological site and sample. “Context” includes the photographs collected on site (except for the samples from Yeronisos and NPA 21-30, which were collected from storage rooms); “macrophoto” includes the photographs of the samples after a first soft cleaning; “microscope” includes the pictures taken with the stereomicroscope.
