VPRS 7140 Entry Registers Miners Accident Relief Fund

This series consists of volumes referred to as 'books' that comprise the record of payments made to recipients from the Miners Accident Relief Fund.. The complete record for each individual was originally envisaged to be documented on a single page. However, for a number of individuals, a significant number of payments were made over a number of years which mean that continuation pages were required. These continuation pages could appear later in the same book or in other book(s). In each case the record on the first page will specify the book and page number in which the record of payments was continued. Continuation pages usually, indicate the previous page (i.e book and page number) and, if necessary, the book and page number of yet another continuation. As a result, the complete entry for an individual could be spread over multiple books. The first page for each individual records, the name of mine, the name of individual, date and time of accident, how employed, when accident happened, nature of accident, result of accident, age of wife and proof of marriage, names and ages of children, names of relationships and ages of dependants, amount of allowances, in what capacity, when varied and amount of variation, when stopped, amount paid for funeral expenses. This is followed by the dates made of each payment, the period for which the payment was made and the amount. Continuation pages recorded the name of the individuals  payment details and the reference to the previous and, if relevant, subsequent pages. The detail from the original entry is not recorded.  Judging from the the first volume in the P0002 grouping, it appears that the use of bound volumes was discontinued after Book 29 during 1939.  From that time, it appears the records for each individual were maintained on loose sheets maintained within adjustable folders. Three volumes appeared to be used being: - living recipients - deceased beneficiaries and - temporary and permanent relief recipients. It is unclear whether these latter items constitute the final records in this series. These items record payments made up to 1969, but the Miners Accident Relief Board operated until 1987. This series was originally identified and documented by service providers. An evauation of the supplied documentation in 20025 resulted in the creation of a revised listing, including the identification of specific volumes and dating, and a major revision to this series description.

本系列以“册”为存储单位，各册完整收录矿工事故救济基金（Miners Accident Relief Fund）向受助对象支付款项的记录。最初规划为每位受助者的完整档案仅需单页即可承载，但部分受助者在多年间产生了多笔付款，因此需要续页补充记录。此类续页既可能出现在当前册次的后续位置，也可能跨册存储。每份档案的首页均会标注付款记录续页所在的册号与页码；续页通常会标注前一页的册号与页码，若需再次续页，也会标注后续续页的册号与页码。因此，单名受助者的完整档案可能分散存储于多册之中。每位受助者的记录首页会收录如下信息：煤矿名称、受助者姓名、事故发生的日期与时间、受助者的职业身份、事故发生时间、事故性质、事故后果、配偶年龄与婚姻证明材料、子女姓名及年龄、亲属姓名与受扶养人年龄、津贴金额、津贴发放的身份资质、津贴调整时间与调整金额、津贴停发时间、丧葬费用支付金额。随后依次记录每笔付款的支付日期、付款周期与实际金额。续页仅收录受助者姓名、付款详情，以及前一页（必要时含后续续页）的页码索引，不会复刻原始档案的完整细节。从P0002组的首卷来看，1939年第29册之后，该系列便不再使用装订成册的存储形式。自此之后，每位受助者的记录以活页形式存储，并收纳于可调节文件夹中。该系列彼时分为三类档案册次：- 在世受助者档案- 已故受助受益人档案- 临时与长期救济受助者档案。目前尚无法确认此类活页档案是否为本系列的最终留存记录：此类档案仅收录至1969年的付款记录，但矿工事故救济委员会（Miners Accident Relief Board）的运营直至1987年才终止。本系列最初由服务供应商完成标识与归档。20025年对所提供归档材料的评估工作，生成了一份修订后的清单，其中包含各册次的具体标识与年代判定，并对本系列的描述进行了大幅修订。
