Analysis of Enterobacteriaceae harbouring the blaKPC carbapenemase gene. Genome sequencing and assembly

These isolates represent a dataset assembled by the TRACE (Tracking Carbapenemase-producing Enterobacteriaceae) Investigators’ Group (Manchester hospitals; University of Oxford; Public Health England), and used to describe the genomic epidemiology of KPC-positive isolates (n=604) in the UK, 2009-2014. This study focused on a KPC-associated outbreak thought to have started in 2009, which rapidly became endemic in Manchester hospitals. Regional isolates from the North West region (i.e. around Manchester), and isolates from a national collection maintained by the Antimicrobial Resistance and Healthcare-associated Infections (AMRHAI) reference laboratory, UK, were included to understand the wider context and genomic picture during the study period.
