A multiple drug resistant Staphylococcus aureus isolate (MRSA), designated as 63-2498, originally isolated from a diabetic patient with an infected heel wound from an out-patient clinic in Adelaide, Australia. Here we present the complete genome sequence of S. aureus 63-2498, providing a high-quality reference genome for clonal complex 22 (CC22) and to help delineate unique genetic features that have led S. aureus to be a leading etiological agent of diabetic foot infections/ulcers.
