NRS-17669 | Registers of admission, progress and withdrawal [Wickham Girls' High School]

The purpose of an admission register was to record basic details about children admitted to the school, and about their parents or guardians. The registers were also used to record the progress of the children through various classes and the date of their leaving the school.These volumes contain information pertaining to each pupil including: date of admission; pupil's name, date of birth and religious denomination; name of previous school and date of leaving. The following details are recorded about the child's parents or guardians: name, residence and occupation. The pupil's date of admission to each subsequent grade and date of leaving the school are also recorded. The format of the volumes makes provision to record any occupation entered into by the pupil on leaving school, but over time this column comes to be used rather to indicate the school to which a pupil may have transferred, and in due course a new column is added to the format for this purpose. The printed format of the first volume in this series also provides that girls and boys should be listed on opposite pages in order of admission, but as Wickham Girls' High School was not a co-educational school, this provision is ignored, and the listing is continuous from page to page. The following volume makes no such provision.The numbering of entries in these volumes begins anew at the commencement of each school year, and the last two digits of the year-number are added to the entry-number as a suffix.Two volumes survive from this series, which record admissions during the years from 1962 until 1971; it is practically certain that a third would have covered the period from 1972 until the school's closure at the end of 1976, but the whereabouts of this volume is not known.Both volumes exhibit partial detachment of their covers at the spine, and the first leaf of the first volume, containing the records of thirty admissions from January 1962, is missing.

档案册的预设格式原本用于记录学生离校后的从业职业，但随着时间推移，该栏目的用途逐渐转变为标注学生可能转入的学校，后续便新增了一栏专门用于此功能。
本系列首册的印刷格式原本要求按入学顺序将男、女生分别列于对开页面，但由于威克姆女子高中（Wickham Girls' High School）并非男女合校，该预设规则未被采用，学生名单按页码连续排列。后续册次则无此类格式要求。
本系列册次的条目编号于每个学年伊始重新编排，并将学年编号的后两位作为后缀添加至条目编号之后。
本系列现存两册档案，记录了1962年至1971年间的入学登记信息；按常理推测，第三册应涵盖1972年至1976年末学校关停期间的登记内容，但该册的下落不明。
两册档案均出现书脊处封皮部分脱落的情况，且首册的首叶缺失，该页原本记录了1962年1月的30条入学登记信息。
