A dataset for main feedstuff and its mineral element content of livestock and poultry in China

As China’s feed industry developed rapidly in recent years, However, the feed resources shortage and fecal pollution from livestock farming become more and more severe, and mineral additives are abused without scientific guidance, which severely limit the stable, healthy and sustainable development of feed industry in China. Therefore, it is necessary to establish a feedstuff and mineral element database. In our study, the database was established by investigating the distribution and content of the main livestock and poultry feedstuff resources in China, including fifteen energy feedstuff, 7 kinds of plant protein, 6 kinds of animal protein, eight green forage and four macro mineral elements. The establishment of main feedstuff and mineral database will provide the scientific guidance for the reasonable use of mineral additives and ration formulation.
