This dataset contains the raw micro-CT data (image stack in TIFF format), voxel data in VGL format (work with VG Studio), and 3D models in STL format (viewed in 3D Viewer of Windows) of each specimens. The fossils described herein were deposited in the Department of Geology, Northwest University (NWU), Xi’an, China. Micro-CT scanning was conducted at the micro-CT lab at the Early Life Institute (ELI), NWU, using a Zeiss Xradia 520 Versa instrument. The volume data were processed using VG studio MAX3.0 to produce volume renditions and virtual sections. The VGL file belongs to the project category and works with VG Studio, being used as a VG Studio Project. The detailed settings are as follows:Specimen DHB-G-001, Mianxiantubus vairus, Fig. 4AWe set 50 kV operating voltage and 79 μA current of the X-ray tube. The detector-RA distance is 9003.0684 mm. 4× optical magnification is applied to the microfossil. This system produces data sets with a voxel dimension of 3.35 μm. We obtain 2401 equiangular projections over 360°. The exposure time for each projection was one second.Specimen DHB-G-066, Mianxiantubus cyathiformis, Fig. 2AThe detector-RA distance is 14005.5088 mm. Voxel dimension sets as 2.39 μm. We obtain 2601 equiangular projections over 360°. The exposure time for each projection was one second. Other scan settings are consistent with those of Specimen DHB-G-001.Specimen DHB-G-166, Mianxiantubus obconicus, Fig. 3EThe detector-RA distance is 19987.9316 mm. Voxel dimension sets as 1.18 μm. We obtain 2601 equiangular projections over 360°. The exposure time for each projection was one second. Other scan settings remain unchanged.
