Meteorologia e sanità pubblica nelle riflessioni di Cosimo De Giorgi

Cosimo De Giorgi graduated in medicine in 1864 and worked as a doctor for twenty years, until 1889. He devoted himself to teaching the natural sciences, and to various scientific investigations concerning the territory of the Terra d'Otranto. However his interest in medicine, hygiene and public health always remained constant; in particular, following the Hippocratic lesson, De Giorgi believed he would contribute to the improvement of the Salento population's health conditions, thanks to the meteorological surveys carried out by the thermopluviometric stations which he had set up in the Terra d'Otranto.
